boast: （自）自慢する，誇る

be proud of と boast aboutの違い？
- The doctor boasts about his son, who is working as a physician.（先生は，医師として働いている彼の息子のことを自慢する。）
- The doctor is proud of his son, who is working as a physician.（先生は，医師として働いている彼の息子のことを誇りに思っている。）
英英辞典によると，boastの意味は
= to speak too proudly or happily about what you have done or what you own:
とある*1。つまり，boastには，周囲に，声高に「自慢する」というニュアンスが含まれる。したがって，上記の例文は，括弧内のように訳し分けられる。
frighten: （他）～をぎょっとさせる

雑多な感想
- 前半部分は，知っている単語が多かったためか，おおむね理解できた。
- 一方，後半のパラグラフでは，知らない（あるいは，耳で聞いてすぐに意味が浮かんでこない）単語が多かった。「この単語の意味は...？」と考えている間に，scriptがどんどんと進んでしまった。
- 断片的にしか聴きとれていないにもかかわらず，指示語が次々と登場したため，文脈を掴み切れなかった。
- 目でスペルをみたらわかるけど，聴くだけではパッと意味が出てこない単語，あるいは，聞き分けられない単語があるのも問題。
