類義語は，例文が掲載されていないので，電子辞書などで調べて記載。これを音読・暗誦。

desperate: 必死の

類義語: frantic

  • 取り乱した，平静を失った [with]
    • The missing child's parents were frantic with worry.
  •  大急ぎの，てんてこまいの(hectic)；必死の
    • a frantic attempt
flexible: 柔軟な

類義語: pliable

Some kinds of plastic become pliable if they're heated.

intense: 強烈な，激しい

類義語: severe※アクセントは後ろ（sivi')

He was paralyzed by a severe stroke. 激しい発作で彼は身体がマヒした。

rational: 正気な

類義語: sane (対義語: insane)

In the doctor's opinion he was sane at the time of the murder. 医師の意見では，殺人当時，彼は正気だった。

類語比較: 「出来事」を表す単語＝occurance, accident, event, happening, incident

  • occuranceは，一般的に「出来事」を表す
    • That buses don't run on time is an everyday occurence in this country. 
  • accidentは，不意に起こり，かつ，損害や損傷を引き起こす出来事のことをいう。
    • He had an accident on the way to school.
    • 和製英語の「アクシデント」に近い。意訳するとすれば，「事件」よりも「事故」が近い。
  • eventは，重要な，興味深い，または珍しい「出来事」のことをいう。
    • The presidential election was the main event of 2012.
  • happeningは，通例複数形で用いられる。「ハプニング」とは異なり，奇妙な「出来事」を表す。
    • The area is known for UFO sightings and unexplained happenings.
  • incidentは，ふつうでない，深刻なまたは暴力的な「出来事」「事件」のこと。
    • There's been an incident here. Two of the security guards have been atacked.
    • 和製英語の「インシデント」は，「ふつうでない（異常な）」「深刻な」の意味で用いられるが，「暴力的な」意味でも使われることに留意。

  • Skellで調べたら，attractive propositionは0.13/M，attractive offerは0.07/Mだった。
